Sudden Loss of Service? Steps to Take Immediately If Your Gympie Provider Has Stopped Support

We understand that the sudden and unexpected loss of your NDIS provider can be incredibly distressing and disruptive. One moment you have a routine and a support team you rely on, and the next, you’re left feeling uncertain and anxious about the future.

At Liorn Support Services, your well-being is our primary concern. If you’re a resident of the Gympie region and find yourself in this difficult situation, please know you are not alone. This guide is designed to provide you with clear, calm, and actionable steps to take right now.

Step 1: Take a Moment and Breathe

First things first: don’t panic. It's completely normal to feel overwhelmed, but making decisions from a place of stress can be difficult. Take a few deep breaths. Remember that there are systems and people in place to help you through this. You have rights as an NDIS participant, and support is available.

Step 2: Gather Your Important Documents

Having your information ready will make the next steps much smoother. Try to locate the following:

Step 3: Make Contact with Your Key Supports

Once you have your information, it’s time to reach out for help. The order is important.

  1. Contact Your Support Coordinator or LAC immediately: This should be your first call. Their job is to help you navigate the NDIS. Inform them that your provider has ceased services unexpectedly. They can help you understand your options, find alternative providers, and manage your NDIS plan funding.

  2. Contact the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission: If a provider stops service without giving the agreed-upon notice, it may be a breach of their responsibilities. You can make a complaint to the NDIS Commission. This helps hold providers accountable and ensures the safety and rights of all participants are protected. You can call them on 1800 035 544.

Step 4: Begin the Search for a New Provider

Your Support Coordinator or LAC will be your greatest asset here, but you can also start looking yourself. When searching for a new provider, consider what’s most important to you. Are you looking for a provider that is reliable, deeply connected to the Gympie community, and puts your choices first?

Ask potential new providers questions like:
